AUTHOR // POET
Without readers, I’d be my own audience; that would be rather lonely. I prefer connecting with others. So thank you for being a reader. Here’s a truth, I’m friendlier in the cyber world than in my neighborhood. I know that’s a personal flaw and failing. Jesus calls us into relationship. And my missed, departed parents were social. My brother is social. Somehow that gene missed me and landed on my children, all of whom are social. My anti-social tendencies even extend to the world of words which I love. I’m more social in the written word than in the spoken word. I write to connect; I write to share. I’m a Christian, but I truly hope my honesty in stating that doesn’t discourage non-Christians from reading and enjoying my work. I’m very aware that I’m now in the later season of my life and that it’s time to write and share what I write. Fellow writers would probably ask why wait until now? Those who are believers and listen to God speak to their hearts would understand my response that God has been very insistent I do this. To others, I just say I hope something I write will touch a heart in a way that makes a positive difference. I’m transparent when I write. I sometimes startle and shock myself. I pray I give God glory whether I write about easier things or hard ones, about times of closeness in my walk with God, or times when I wandered far from the path God set before me either through defiance or weakness. I write to share my life’s journey as I look back over 70-plus years and ahead to whatever time span God will grant me. I’m not sure if my life has more blessings or more sorrows, more successes or more hurtful disappointments. I know it’s been interesting and rewarding. I know my belief in Christ deepens daily.
